OSE will extend its trading hours to further increase opportunities for trading and improve price discovery in the OSE market.
Earlier opening time for equity index futures
To provide opportunities to hedge risks related to the announcements on important Japanese indicators before 9 a.m., the current opening time, OSE will move up the start of the day sessions for Index Futures, excluding Nikkei 225 VI Futures(*), to 8:45 a.m.
(*)Futures based on the Nikkei Stock Average Volatility Index.
Longer night session
Since the launch of the night session (previously "evening session") in 2007, the ratio of the night session trades to total trades has grown steadily with the globalization of financial markets and technological advancements to reach 34.9% in 2015.
To meet investor demand for more hedging opportunities to react to overseas market developments that occur during business hours in New York, OSE will extend the end of the night session from 3:00 a.m. to 5:30 a.m.
New night session for Nikkei 225 VI Futures
OSE will make Nikkei 225 VI Futures available in the night session to encourage use of the volatility index and attract new participants.
