Enhancing Corporate Governance

Principles of Corporate Governance for Listed Companies

The Principles of Corporate Governance for Listed Companies were formulated at the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) in March of 2004 based on suggestions made by the Listed Company Corporate Governance Committee. Enhancing corporate governance should be accomplished though the voluntary efforts of listed companies combining with the appraisal of such by the shareholders and investors participating in the market, and the purpose of these Principles is to offer the foundation of common understanding necessary for doing so.

The Principles were subsequently revised in December 2009 based on discussions at the Advisory Panel on Improvement of Listing System in light of changing circumstances in Japan and abroad.
