Apr. 1: Implementation of Index Consultation System

TSE has implemented a new "Index Consultation" system to further strengthen the independence as well as fairness and transparency of the index calculation process, by announcing a draft of measures for TSE indices to solicit a wide range of opinions. Comments will be accepted from April 20, 2020 to May 20, 2020 as indicated in "Index Consultation Regarding Proposed Amendment to Policies Concerning Calculation of TSE Indices".

Apr. 3: Launch of Investor Transcript Service

TSE conducted proof of concept (PoC) testing for distribution of transcripts of listed company investor-oriented events with SCRIPTS Asia Inc. from October 2019. Based on the test results, TSE will launch a new service to provide transcripts (in Japanese and English) for investor events created by SCRIPTS Asia Inc. Transcripts will be available from June 2020 through TSE's platform. TSE has also started to coordinate with listed companies in Japan who are interested in having their investor event transcripts created by SCRIPTS Asia Inc.
We will continue in our efforts to promote better quality information gathering by investors and a reduction in the information gap between domestic and overseas investors by providing this service.

Apr. 16: Launch of Limited Public Distribution Proof of Concept Testing for TSE Timely Disclosure Corpus

TSE started PoC testing of limited public distribution of corpus data created from timely disclosure and other documents.
Corpus is an accumulation of digitized natural language sentences utilized for research on natural language processing, etc. and in recent years, employed especially for machine translation.
This PoC testing will provide a sample of both monolingual corpus (each Japanese and English corpus constructed by mechanically extracting text from disclosure and other documents during a specified period) and parallel corpus (Japanese and English parallel corpus constructed based on the monolingual corpus), with the objective of using feedback from the participants of the PoC testing to verify the possible usability and applications of the data.

Apr. 27: Launch of Tokyo Stock Exchange Infrastructure Funds Index

TSE launched a new index, "Tokyo Stock Exchange Infrastructure Funds Index". The index is a free-float market capitalization weighted average, composed of all the funds listed in the infrastructure fund market at TSE. It will be a measure of the overall trends in the market. TSE remains committed to promoting the market as well as contributing to renewable energy by developing indices in response to investment needs and environmental changes. Apr. 30: Announcement of Consolidated Financial Results for FY2019

JPX released its consolidated financial results for FY2019.
Operating revenue was up JPY 2.5 billion (+2.1%) year on year to JPY 123.6 billion, due mainly to an increase in revenues from clearing and information services.
Operating expenses were up JPY 4.4 billion (+8.2%) year on year to JPY 58.5 billion, due mainly to an increase in systems-related costs.
As a result, operating income decreased JPY 1 billion (-1.4%) to JPY 68.5 billion, with net income (attributed to owners of the parent company) down JPY 1.4 billion (-3.0%) to JPY 47.6 billion.
Thus, revenue increased but profit decreased compared to the previous year.
