Mar. 18, 2015 TSE Ten UBS ETFs listed on Tokyo Stock Exchange by UBS Group -First ETFs on the exchange to track indices across Europe-
TOKYO, March 18, 2015 – The Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc. (TSE) and UBS Group today announced the listings of 10 new UBS Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs). The funds are the first TSE-listed ETFs to track indices across Europe. The listings bring the total number of ETFs and ETNs listed on the TSE to 207.
The TSE features a wide range of ETFs and ETNs, having evolved from a largely Japanese equity-centric offering at launch to a highly diversified investment lineup now. Investors are able to tap instruments backed by foreign stocks, foreign bonds, REITs, commodities, leveraged/inverse indices, and other assets.
The TSE will continue to enhance its ETF and ETN lineup and further deepen the liquidity of the market.
The UBS ETFs (Codes: 1385-1394) track a number of top European indices, such as the EURO STOXX 50®, which is composed of blue-chip European stocks, and the FTSE 100, which consists of 100 large-cap companies traded in the United Kingdom. The ETFs also include a fund that tracks the MSCI World Index for greater geographical diversification across developed markets.
Clemens Reuter, Head of Global ETFs at UBS, said, "UBS Global Asset Management has a long and proven track record in indexed portfolio management. We have chosen ETFs that track major European equity indices to bolster the array of current listings in Japan and to support investors in diversifying and internationalizing their portfolios. We are committed to meeting evolving demand in Japan with products developed for specific local needs."
TSE President & CEO Akira Kiyota commented, "We are delighted to welcome the UBS ETFs to our market today. The listings bring Japan-based investors the first ETFs that track markets across Europe and major developed European countries. We are confident these ETFs will meet the increasingly diverse needs of investors." He added, "The TSE will continue to strive to provide highly convenient investment products across a broad range of asset classes."
