On February 1, JPX made a minority investment of USD 1 million in OpenGamma, Inc., a technology company that provides analytics and risk management solutions to financial institutions. Through this investment, JPX aims to deepen its relationship with OpenGamma, as well as to gain more insight and advanced technological capability in the fields of risk management and fintech.
OSE's derivatives trading system, New J-GATE, received an award in the Nikkei Veritas Awards category at the 2016 Nikkei Superior Products and Services Awards ceremony on February 1. The accolade was granted in recognition of the system’s allowing for extended trading hours in the morning and night sessions, increased trade processing speeds, and incorporation of mechanisms to prevent improper activities.
OSE hosted a special exhibition on shareholder incentives on February 12–24. Approximately 2,500 people attended the event, which showcased a number of shareholder incentives from listed companies. A special exhibition on shareholder incentives will also be hosted at TSE on March 5–24. Alongside the exhibition, February 12–18, OSE and the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry also held an event celebrating the contribution of Tomoatsu Godai to business and commerce in Osaka. Visitors enjoyed exhibition panels and had the chance take home a souvenir upon getting commemorative stamps from both exhibition sites.
Ten years have passed since trading of Nikkei 225 mini futures started on July 18, 2006. JPX held an event in celebration of this occasion on February 15 in Singapore. The event was a huge success, and over 100 industry professionals were in attendance.
On February 20, JPX held the 5th Corporate Value Improvement Awards ceremony at TSE Arrows. Representatives from the Grand Prix winner, Kao Corporation, and recipients of Excellence Awards, Meiji Holding Co., Ltd., START TODAY CO., LTD. and Astellas Pharma Inc., were given trophies and rang the bell.
TSE and Singapore Exchange (SGX) hosted an Infrastructure Fund Symposium on February 21. TSE has been actively engaged in efforts to generate growth in its Infrastructure Fund Market since launching it in April 2015, and has also collaborated with SGX on related research and activities. Counting on the participation of a number of public and private sector experts from Singapore and Japan, the symposium served as a venue for sharing findings and insights on the future growth prospects for this market.
TSE and the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) jointly selected and announced the 2017 Health & Productivity Stocks on February 21. This is the third year in which TSE and METI have recognized outstanding TSE listed companies for their health and productivity management, selecting one enterprise from each of the 24 sectors. The program aims to showcase the stock of selected enterprises as attractive investments for investors and to propel efforts by enterprises working on health and productivity management.
The 2017 TSE IR Festa was held on February 24– 25 at Tokyo International Forum. The event attracted 72 exhibitors and about 17,100 visitors. Numerous retail investors visited the exhibition booths and attended briefing sessions—their enthusiasm for investing was palpable. JPX also set up a booth where staff conducted brief seminars on TSE ETFs, J-REITs, and Futures trading along with a brief company information session. The booth also featured information on analysts' reports and the TSE IR videos on our website. All sessions were a success thanks to the overwhelming attendance.
