On November 5, Japan Exchange Group Inc. welcomed Mark Carney, Governor of the Bank of England and Chair of the Financial Stability Board (FSB), for a discussion on promoting the FSB's Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).

Japan Exchange Group Inc. had the meeting with Mr. Carney and it was attended by Mr. Hiromichi Mizuno, Executive Managing Director and CIO of Japan's biggest pension fund the GPIF and leaders of several finance industry companies and organizations who made clear their support for the TCFD.

During the meeting, Mr. Carney expressed his gratitude for those in Japan who have supported the TCFD until now. Leading up to the June 2019 G20 summit in Japan, which will become a good platform for attendee countries to discuss their progress on climate-related disclosures, Mr. Carney made clear his hope that Japan would take on more of a leading role in promoting the TCFD's recommendations. After Mr. Carney's speech, industry attendees expressed their support for the TCFD and explained their own movements towards sustainable investment. This was followed by a lively question and answer session which explored, among other things, the current situation regarding climate-related and other financial disclosures. Thanks to the attendees' enthusiastic participation, the event became a valuable platform for exchanging ideas.
