Japan Exchange Group,Inc. ("JPX") has set "Promoting Sustainability that Connects Society and Economy" as one of the priority measures in its Medium-Term Management Plan 2024, and one of its initiatives is " Contribution to the creation of a Japanese carbon credit market".

JPX is pleased to announce that Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc. ("TSE") has won the bidding for the "FY2021 Supplemental Carbon Neutral Top League Development Project (Technical Demonstration Project for Carbon Credit Market)" (hereinafter referred to as "the Project") commissioned by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry ("METI").

TSE has been commissioned by METI to conduct the Project and is scheduled to commence trial trading of carbon credits in September this year. Considering that the Project is a unique contribution that an exchange can make to the realization of a low-carbon society, TSE will work closely with METI to proceed with the Project by leveraging the market management expertise of entire JPX Group, led by "Carbon Credit Market Development Office" established at TSE in April this year.
