May 10, 2024 JPXTSE Addition of GX Credits to Trading on the Carbon Credit Market (Publication of Outline)

 

We have been entrusted with market operations of trading of GX (Green Transformation) credits by Nomura Research Institute, Ltd., which has been commissioned by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) to carry out its green transformation project for FY2024 (operation of the GX League secretariat and development of frameworks to support voluntary emissions trading by companies participating in the GX League). In response to that, we are pleased to announce that it plans to add GX credits to the Carbon Credit Market (hereinafter referred to as the "Market") and is accepting public comments.
In order to start trading GX credits in November 2024, we plan to revise the rules based on the outline and beginning applications for GX credits around July.
Since we opened the Market on October 11, 2023 as an official market of the JPX Group, we have been implementing various measures from the perspective of expanding the Market and improving liquidity. We will contribute to the development of carbon credit market from a medium to long-term perspective along with the development of emissions trading scheme in Japan.
