New Enrollment of a CDS Clearing Participant (SMBC Nikko Securities Inc.)

JSCC has granted CDS clearing qualification to SMBC Nikko Securities Inc. as of today, September 1, 2014.

As the core securities company of the Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, SMBC Nikko Securities has been pursuing business opportunities through banking-securities collaboration and offering advanced financial products and services based on its collective capabilities in collaboration with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation. The firm also trades actively in the CDS market, including the iTraxx Japan index for which JSCC manages the clearing process.

SMBC Nikko Securities’ participation is expected to further increase and advance the use of JSCC’s clearing system. JSCC will continue to focus on the stable management and operation of the CDS clearing system, in order to achieve further penetration, in collaboration with relevant companies.

With the participation of SMBC Nikko Securities, the number of CDS Clearing Participants now totals 11. Including 2 participants currently participating by means of Clearing Brokerage, the total number of participants in JSCC’s CDS Clearing Business now stands at 13.
