About Gas Oil Futures

Gas oil is a by product of crude oil, and is mainly used as an engine fuel in vehicles running on a diesel engine in Japan. Gasoline, kerosene and gas oil are produced not separately but in a series of refining process.
TOCOM Gas oil futures was listed in September 2003. The standard product is gas oil of JIS K2204 Grade no.2 (for December, January, February and March contract months), Grade no.1 (for April, May, October and November contract months) or Grade special no.1 (for June, July, August and September contract month), and shall be delivered to the refineries or storage facilities with marine shipment facilities located in Tokyo, Kanagawa and Chiba, designated by the Exchange.
